Are you wondering how to get in front of your ideal client? Not sure where they’re hanging out or how you can find them? In this episode of the Five Star Business Podcast, I’m sharing 6 ways to find your ideal clients and land your offer in front of them.
I’m so excited to dive into a highly requested topic. How to get in front of your ideal client is something that I get asked almost every single day. I hear it in my DMs, from one-on-one coaching clients and inside of my paid programs. I want to outline this solution in a way that’s tactical and easily applicable to your business.
We’re going to dive into six ways to get in front of your ideal client and target market. I’m all about action. So, I wrote out these six strategies as if I would implement them in my own business. It’s like you’re sitting in on a coaching session with me today and taking away some great ideas on how to get in front of your ideal client.
The first way to reach your ideal client is on Instagram. I know that this platform can be exhausting and overwhelming. It feels like the algorithm is just changing 24/7. But there is still connection happening. Instagram very active in my own business. It’s one of the ways that I build relationships. I get it, it can feel frustrating. Sometimes you just want to delete the app and never come back. But Instagram truly is still a place of so much value. Your ideal clients are on there.
Personally, I go to Instagram for almost everything. Pinterest used to be my number one platform if I had a question or if I was looking for something or someone. Now, I go straight to Instagram. I hire people on my team to work with me. I’ve hired photographers off Instagram. I hire business coaches from Instagram, and I meet so many different people on the app.
Instagram is still alive and well even if you feel like your metrics have gone down or if you believe that people aren’t paying attention to you. Your ideal clients are still there. You just have to find a strategy that works for you. That’s one of the things that I do when you work with me one-on-one. We’ll craft your business plan and I’ll help you create a strategy that works for you specifically for your target market. The plan will also be specific to your lifestyle and your business needs.
Here are a few tips to use Instagram to get in front of your ideal client that you can start using today. First, find people that you know your ideal client is following. When I’m trying to find clients that would be a good fit for me, I think about their interests and values. Once I have a list of those, I’m able to start typing in phrases and search for accounts that my ideal clients are following.
Step number one to use Instagram to find your ideal client is to get inside of their head. Go look for people they’re following, so that you can find your ideal clients through there. They’re not always going to come to you. You have to put yourself out there. That’s why so many people struggle, because it’s uncomfortable. I’m asking you to leave your comfort zone if you want to grow your business.
After you’ve found a few accounts that your ideal clients might be following, go through the accounts posts and see who is engaging with them. Chech their most recent posts, posts that are relevant to your ideal client or posts that deal with pain points that you can speak into.
The people engaging with those posts are the ideal clients you’re looking for. Once you find them, follow them! You would be amazed at the ability to grow your following with the right people from this one Instagram strategy.
The second way to get in front of your ideal client is to study your past clients. Ask yourself who you loved working with, and who fits your ideal client description. Think of at least one person that immediately comes to your mind. Get involved with their community. Look into the people that they know, the places that they shop, the accounts that they are following. Study your favorite clients that fit your target market.
Ask those ideal clients that you’ve already worked with some market research questions. If you need to get to know your ideal client a little bit more, start asking questions. Ask some of your favorite clients what they’re interested in? What are their values? Their biggest fear in life? Things they are struggling with? What do they do for a living?
Questions like this will help you get to know your ideal client by getting to know your past favorite clients. By doing this, you can speak to people just like them. You can find more people to join your community and start booking with you. This is one of my favorite ways to get in front of my ideal client. I look at the people I’ve worked with that I know are my ideal client, because I already found them once.
The third way to find your ideal client is through Facebook groups. I know Facebook groups can get a bad rap. But honestly, this is one of the main places I’ve seen success in my own business. It really depends on your personality and who your ideal client is. Because I do believe that there are certain people hanging out in Facebook groups at a certain level compared to others.
So, you definitely want to make sure that your person values Facebook groups. One of my favorite tactical, action steps to use when I’m trying to get in front of my ideal client is to do polls. You can create a poll or ask a thought provoking question. Ask people for their opinion and you will get some amazing feedback.
This is a strategy I use when I’m creating offers, brainstorming podcast episodes or creating freebies. I ask people for their opinion and what they would like to see from me. Ask for their feedback, ask them questions and have open ended, back and forth conversations within your Facebook groups.
This is a fantastic way to find your ideal client. For at least 90% of you, Facebook groups will work for your business. Find three or four Facebook groups that you know your ideal client is hanging out in. Write them down and start asking questions on a weekly basis, one day a week. Post in those Facebook groups, get opinions, and figure out what your ideal client is searching for. What are they struggling with? You will strike up many authentic conversations and expand your networks just by hanging out in Facebook groups.
Another way to get in front of your ideal client is through a podcast, an Instagram live or both. Position yourself as the expert. We’ll deep dive into a future episode about why I believe podcasting is the number one way to go, and how you can implement that into your own business. I’m so passionate about podcasts! The Five Star Business Podcast is the second podcast that I’ve produced and it’s the best way for ideal clients to hear from me.
A podcast can be your number one lead generator because you’re able to build intimate trust with people who can hear your voice. You can pour value into your ideal client on a consistent basis. It’s a great way to build a relationship and to create a virtual friendship.
You can do this with Instagram lives as well. Find people that you can interview, have conversations, partner or collab, whatever works best for you. But you want to position yourself as the expert to get in front of your ideal client and in front of other people’s audiences.
The fifth way to get in front of your ideal client is through paid programs, memberships or masterminds. This strategy is definitely not going to be a free, but I really want to transform your mindset on this. I have been guilty of believing that a program that I joined was a complete waste, or it wasn’t as great as I thought it was. Then I met an amazing business coach of mine who taught me the value of the networks that you meet inside of paid programs.
She joins programs just to put herself in community with the other students, other people that join the mastermind, and other business owners. She says that your network is your net worth. The amount of time you spend with other people, opening and expanding yourself up to new audiences, your network becomes your net worth. If you’ve ever heard the saying, it’s who you know, that’s where that comes from. Sometimes, it’s not going to be your credibility, your credentials, or anything shiny of what you’ve been able to accomplish or not accomplish that gets you on a stage or in a room that you should have never been in, it is your network. It is who you know, that can override everything you could ever do.
Here’s another thing, God will put you in places with people who you should have never had an opportunity to meet. It doesn’t even make sense. He will absolutely bless you and do that for you. I could do podcast episode after podcast episode about all of the places God has positioned me that I had no business being there. So, I just want to give you that little bit of encouragement.
This business coach transformed my mindset into understanding that it’s not always the content in a program that is the major takeaway, or what you’re paying for. Sometimes, the value is in the other people that are in that paid program. Now, I’m not telling you to get inside of paid programs, and then never complete them. I’m saying if you’ve ever felt like you had a crappy experience, you can still meet people from that program that are in your corner for life. Who can potentially introduce you to people that end up working with you. So again, your net worth is in your network.
The last way to get in front of your ideal clients locally is to attend meetups, go to conferences and attend workshops. We’re coming out of a crazy past couple of years dealing with a pandemic. But it’s not going to be that way forever. In fact, a lot of local events are back up and running, or they’re preparing to be back in 2023.
If you’ve never gone to a business conference, meetup, or workshop I want to encourage you to get outside of your comfort zone. It can be hard. Trust me, I used to be an extrovert, but I the older I get, the more introverted I become. But meeting people face to face and attending things in person will change your life. It doesn’t even have to be a business conference, even attending a women’s conference with your church can land you in a room with like-minded individuals and connect you to potential clients.
Not only will you gain a new network, new business friends, new personal friends in your life, new faith mentors, but you’ll also gain so much knowledge and confidence. Attending in person events can help you get in front of your ideal client. You would be shocked at the people that you meet and choose to work with you because of that relationship you’ve established.
Implement one of the 6 ways to land in front of your ideal client today. If not today, I want you to start working on it and implement it over the next couple of days. Once you’ve implemented one, come back and do another one until you’ve made it all the way down the list.
I hope these six ways have helped you and inspired you. I am praying blessings and favor over your business, and I will catch you on the next episode!
