Learn How To Grow Your Photography Business to Full Time Income This Year!
When it comes to the different types of photography businesses, we all have one thing in common: we need a business that is going to make us money. Everything else is based on personal preference.
We’re going to dive into the different photography business models today & how to know which one is right for you.
We have three main types of photography businesses; the all-inclusive or the “shoot and burn”, the IPS which is in person sales and the third type is a hybrid, where we mix a little bit of the two together.
I’m going to outline all three with the pros & cons of each + my personal opinion. From there, I want YOU to choose which one fits you AND your business best; keeping in mind, no matter the business model you choose, it is a good business model, it all comes down to the one that aligns with your goals & serves your clients the best.
Let’s dive into the all-inclusive! So, this business model is that when clients look at your pricing options, they’re getting the all in price option for a particular package; here is what you’re going to pay in full upfront and here’s what that includes.
The slang term for this type of photography business model is “shoot and burn”; meaning your clients are paying you upfront, you’re being paid for your time, the session itself and you’re all the tangibles you listed out in your package.
This model is easy, it’s a place a lot of us started and in certain areas, sometimes it’s the only type of photography business model that sells. Again, your location & who you serve matters when choosing your business model.
IPS or in person sales; the point of in person sales is to take the digital concept & turn it into tangible prints & products. It typically means that people are spending more money with the IPS business model. There are several different strategies that you can take with setting up your IPS, there isn’t just one way of running an IPS business model.
The Hybrid business model is taking a little from the all-inclusive + a little from the IPS & then creating your OWN type of photography business model. This is why I teach a hybrid business model inside the Blueprint Program. I’m not all for all-inclusive or all for IPS. I don’t think that IPS necessarily works for every single photographer in every area in every niche.
I know photographers that are killing it with IPS exclusively and those that are killing it with all-inclusive models exclusively as well.
It’s not about how much money you’re going to make with the business model. For this, it’s which one aligns with YOU and is also going to serve your clients.
One example of a hybrid type business model could look like you offer three packages, it’s going to look like it’s all inclusive, which it is, we’re not tricking anyone here, it’s what they pay for and it’s what they get. So, you’re including an option to upsell to them, allowing them to purchase more than they originally came for.
This is one of the things that I dive into & help personalize and tailor to your specific business, your niche, your area and all of these things inside of the From Broke to Booked Blueprint Program.
