Learn How To Grow Your Photography Business to Full Time Income This Year!
If you struggle with what to say on social media, I’ve got you. This may be the juiciest content yet because I’m giving you a one week content plan for social media. No matter what platform you’re on, this weekly content plan will work for you!
Chances are you are either overcomplicating marketing or you are brand new and just learning the ropes. Social media can feel hard for many reasons. Before we get into the content plan, let’s just say it like it is. Social media has changed so much and it’s a lot harder to be seen and get high engagement numbers than ever before.
Just because soical media is hard, doesn’t mean you need to give it up all together. We previously spoke with Emma Tessler on from Ninety Five Media Marketing. Emma was a breath of fresh air for me and so many of you because it helped shift negative mindsets and it helped us understand how each platform is unique. After all these are FREE marketing platforms that can have a significant impact on your business. While algorithms and trends change, the foundation of social media never will. I want you to approach social media with a positive mindset and create content for your ideal client.
I am challenging you to show up in your stories on a daily basis Monday through Friday. You should be posting on your feed three to four times a week, as well as engaging with the content you post. I give you full permission to take the weekends off if you choose! I’m sure you are questioning yourself on what should you be posting. I suggest you post a mixture of personal content, as well as business content.
Let’s break this down! We are going to use a Newborn / Family photographer as an example for a week’s worth of content. Make sure you use your own niche for your content!
On Monday morning make a post to your story, and share your plan for the day or share a glimpse of your morning. For example, post a video of you making your morning drink and then add text on top of the video, and add a sticker for your audience engagement.
And then on Monday afternoon you post a story and share a video of you prepping your studio or camera bag for a newborn session. You could even add a song or trending audio to your story. This is known as behind the scenes content. Don’t overcomplicate this, you could even have this content on your phone already. Engage your audience by asking would you rather prepare your studio or go outside with a newborn.
You can wake up Tuesday morning and post a story talking about how your morning is going. Maybe you’re waking up to sunshine and great weather and can’t wait for the day. Add a poll or other sticker option to engage your ideal client. Then on Tuesday evening, share a behind the scenes video of you editing a gallery. Set it at 3x speed to show how much work goes into editing a gallery. Throw in some trending audio and you are set for Tuesday!
Wednesday morning you can share your plan for the day or a glimpse of your morning. Here’s an easy example, post a video of you making your morning drink or breakfast, and then add text on top of the video. You could then wrap up your day with a post of a video scrolling a client gallery. Simply add text or a screenshot of your client raving about your work!

As we are almost through our week, on Thursday morning use a behind the scenes video clip, and add text stating you have X amount of spots open for the upcoming months. This could be as easy as, I have two newborn spots for August, and three for September available. Be sure to add a link for people to visit your website or booking calendar. On Thursday evening, show a video or photo of you headed out to a date night with your spouse, and maybe how you make this a reality with young kids. Make it a post about your personal life!
Wrap up Friday morning with a video of you editing, cleaning the studio, or organizing a client closet! You could even post a newborn or family photo carousel, and a caption about your summer plans with your family. Wrap up your week with a cheers boomerang, say have a great weekend or that’s a wrap for the week.
Remember, content doesn’t have to be complicated! More than likely you have everything you need already on your phone. Utilize images or video you already have, and add relevant text or audio. The key to content is to stay consistent, and keep your clients engaged! You can get some more inspiring tips here.
