Black Friday is coming. Are you ready? If not here are 5 ideas to boost this Black Friday for photographers.
First of all, people are planning to spend during Black Friday.
No matter your offer, you need to create urgency. The best way to do this is to make sure your Black Friday offers have a sales date that’s going to expire. You can also create urgency through only offering limited spots.
Take two of your existing packages, put them together and create a one time special price. So, instead of having people pay full price on each package, if they get both together and pay up front they’ll end up saving $100. You decide on the bundle price based on your profit goal.
A bundle could be two or three sessions bundled together. Here’s an example. Say you are a senior photographer. You could offer two 2 hour sessions. One in the spring and one in the fall. Have them pay for both up front and get a discount.
For a family photographer offer two 1 hour sessions in different seasons. Or one could be used for the family and one could be used for a motherhood session or just the kids.
A newborn photogropher could do a maternity and a newborn bundle. Or a newborn, 6 month, and one year session.
A branding photographer could offer 2-3 sessions over a year’s time.
Wedding/Elopement photographer could offer a bridal session for later use, an anniversary session in a year, etc.
For your Black Friday sale you can say for everyone that prebooks their session for 2024 or a certain time frame will also receive something in addition. This could be additional images, prints, a product, etc. You are basically adding in a gift to encourage people to purchase at your full price.
Senior photographer bonus idea- A fun prop to include or a mini accordion album. Or another album to commemorate all of their senior photos.
A family photographer could offer a selection of prints, five additional images, or an album.
Newborn photographers could offer newborn announcement cards, an album, or five additional images.
Branding photographers could offer additional images, a digital marketing pack that includes an email signature, Facebook page cover, and business card design.
Wedding/Elopement photographers could offer a 16×20 framed print or canvas, additional sneak peeks, a faster turnaround time, or an album.
The best way to bring in an influx of income at the end of the year is to go back to people who have already said yes to you and encourage them to purchase from you again.
You could offer 30-40% off prints and products in your gallery hosting store. You could also create your own custom packages that people could choose from. This bundle also helps people get Christmas ideas off their list because they can gift prints and products to family.
This one is for my photographers who are looking to add on to their current packages or pivoting into a new niche of photography. Create a package and offer an introductory rate discount. This means you are letting people get first dibs at a brand new package and book it for a little less than what the full price will be after Black Friday.
Let’s have an example shall we? Let’s say you want to create a more luxury family session experience and you are going to charge $600 for it in 2024. For Black Friday you could offer it at a $75 discount and have a limited number of families who can book it at $525. This helps you prove your concept and get experience serving famillies with the new package.
If you are planning on increasing your rates one of the ideas you could do for Black Friday is let everyone know your rates rae increasing as of December or January 1st. Black Friday can be their last opportunity to book a session for 2024 at the current pricing. Again, limit the number of people so you don’t end up with most of your 2024 at discounted session prices.
Alright friends those are the 5 Black Friday ideas. Now let’s talk about how to make sure this is a success for you.
Choose your offer, map it out, price it out.
Decide on the details and how many limited spots you have.
Decide on the process of selling this. For example, if you are using Iris Works as your client management system, you will need to go in there and create the product, the invoice, the booking calendar, etc.
Draft up your emails and get them scheduled and ready to go.
Create your marketing content and start promoting your Black Friday offer starting the last week of October all the way through to your Black Friday dates.
Another tip-you don’t have to wait until actual Black Friday which is November 24th this year. You can create your Black Friday and make it happen the week before, the week of, and the weekend of Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. You decide!
