Learn How To Grow Your Photography Business to Full Time Income This Year!
Are you feeling overwhelmed in your photography business? Do you have a long list of things you want to do but don’t know where to start? You could be experiencing analysis paralysis. This is a common theme that I see all of the time so you’re not alone. And today I’m going to give you a process to help you overcome analysis paralysis by pinpointing where to start and how to take action.
Analysis paralysis is when you feel like you have a huge to do list and it causes you to feel so overwhelmed that you don’t even know where to start. Analysis Paralysis keeps you stuck and prevents you from taking action. This holds you back from seeing those results in your photography business.
#1 – Ask yourself what your biggest hang up is that you’re experiencing in your business. Be specific when you do this. It has to be more than you’re not booking clients. Maybe your problem is that you’re getting leads but they’re ghosting you. Where are you losing people in the process? When trying to determine what your biggest problem is don’t stop at the first answer that pops into your head. Try to break it down.
#2 – Work backwards so you can determine where to start. Once you figure out the true problem you need to work backwards. For example, your problem might be getting ghosted by leads. Audit your contact form. Look at the questions and determine if they’re clear or overwhelming. Is there enough information? How are you communicating your services and prices? Are you using an investment guide? You want to look at the information you’re giving to your leads. Next, dig into your branding and positioning. Are you positioning yourself as the expert in your niche? Is your branding where it needs to be or do you still look like a beginner? Then take a look at the quality of your leads. Are they your ideal client and someone you would want to work with?
#3 – Brain dump all strategies and business advice that has been flooding your brain. You’re listening to a bunch of different podcasts and advice and you want to try all of the new things. Brain dump everything out of your head, everything that’s making you feel overwhelmed, and all of the strategies you want to try. If you are Blueprint student and you’re overwhelmed and you have pinpointed the problem, then go to the Blueprint and write down any of the lessons that I teach that will help you overcome that problem. List them all out and then review. Look at everything on your list that’s overwhelming you and circle the things that are directly related to your problem that will help you solve it.
#4 – Focus on the things that will help you solve your problem. Out of all of the things that you circled, it’s now time to categorize them. What can you implement in a day, a week, or a month or more?
One of the things we mentioned to do before was reviewing your contact form. Action items you can do in a day include reviewing your contact form and reviewing the quality of your leads. Updating packages and pricing will probably take about a week. If you’re currently copying and pasting your pricing information to leads then you need to create an investment guide that’s easy to follow, is strategically designed, and will get your pricing information out there in a high quality way. If you need one I have templates available in my shop.
#5 – Implement. By now you have determined what your problem is and what you need to do to fix it. And you know about how long it should take. So now choose the first thing that needs to get done. With our example the first thing I recommend is knocking out the tasks you can do in a day before you move onto the ones that will take more time. You’ve determined that you’re being ghosted by your leads so the very first thing you’ll do is review your contact form and take a look at the quality of your leads.
So now it’s your turn to go implement this process right now. It’s not fun to stay stuck so if you’re in the analysis paralysis phase it’s not going to get you the results you’re looking for.
If you’re overwhelmed and you don’t know what to do in your business this is the process you’re going to follow. It’s the process I’m following and the process I’m taking my clients through.
