Want to grow your audience and make more sales? In this episode of the Five Star Business Podcast, I’m sharing the practical marketing strategy that has worked for my business every time.
Are you ready for a game changer in your business? Let’s dive into the marketing strategy that will grow your audience and lead to more sales that you can implement today! All of the marketing strategies that the “guru’s” are telling you that you should be doing in your business can feel overwhelming. But I believe that simple is best! As the saying goes – work smarter, not harder.
The marketing strategy will simplify your business and save you a ton of time. It will build the like, know, and trust factor with your potential clients. This strategy will grow your audience, which will increase the number of clients that you have in your business no matter what kind of business you have.
Social media has gone through so many changes in the last ten years. It’s hard to keep up with it all. Facebook and Instagram seemingly change the algorithm almost daily. Social media has made it so much harder for you to market your business on their platforms.
While I still believe you need social media to grow your business, you don’t need to put all of your eggs in one basket. Working so hard to create micro content that only lasts for a certain number of hours will lead you to burnout and inconsistency.
You don’t have to be on social media 24/7 and sell your soul to these platforms. I do not operate my business or any social media account this way. If it looks like I’m showing up on all of the platforms, it’s because I either have someone helping me or I have already prepared the content in advance, and everything is scheduled out. There is another, simpler solution to market your business and grow your audience.
So, what is the secret marketing strategy that will allow you to build a more profitable business? How do you gain the trust of your audience so that they will turn into clients? Focus on creating long form content in your business.
The Five Star Business Podcast is long form content. It’s where you connect with me to figure out if we share the same values or have connection points. Long form content allows your audience to begin to trust you. It allows you to provide actionable, helpful information for your audience to implement into their life and business.
If you’re able to solve one their problems or one of their pain points or help them reach a desired goal, your audience will be more likely to buy into whatever you’re selling because it’s meeting their need.
You don’t have to start a podcast for long form content. I want to share three different things you could create for long form content. All you’re looking for is something that you create one time, that can be repurposed into all of your micro content. It needs to be easily accessible, and found through SEO, from someone searching for what you are talking about.
This could be a YouTube channel, a podcast, a blog, or an online journal of some sort. All of those are long form content. It could even be a book. Long form content of any kind will help you really gain traction and start scaling your business.
I want to walk you through the brief process of how this works for me, what we do with it, and why I believe it works. Then, I’ll share a few stats with you so that you can really be encouraged. Then you can decide what type of long form content that you want to implement into your business.
For my business, I chose podcasting. Podcasting works for me for several reasons. First of all, I’m a talker. I used to get in trouble for this all the time, there’s not a single report card that does not say something about how much I talked in class. Funny how it worked out. Now I have two successful podcasts, and I get to use my gift of speaking and teaching in a way that fits best with my lifestyle.
You might have a gift of using your words. People read everything you write and are moved by the fact that they can find written forms of your content. This could be a book or an online blog. It could be a journal could or an online newspaper. I don’t know what that is but written long form content is an option.
Maybe you would love to have a YouTube channel. You know that video content would work best because of what you teach, sell or provide will move your audience the most by seeing it. An example of this would be photographers or videographers. You could have a video channel where you’re teaching other photographers, or you are showcasing your talents to your clients through a form of video.
Those are your choices. I chose podcasting. I really think about what questions you guys asking me and what information is really going to impact your life and business? What are your needs, problems, and desires? How can I provide a solution to that? My podcast is one of those ways.
You’re able to hear my voice and learn more about me. This is the number one place you’re going to get to know me best. I’m going to share secrets, pull back the curtain and allow you to hear my feelings and emotions.
We are building a relationship. The more episodes that I put out on this podcast, the more I’m able to know who I’m speaking to as well. It’s great for building relationships. I come up with the episode titles, the topics and outline them, and hit record.
At the time of this episode’s recording, it’s the first day of school and I’m 10 minutes away from leaving to go pick my kiddos up. This is convenient for me. I’m going to record the podcast and then I’m going to send it off to my amazing editor, Natalie. Then me and my team we get started on.
Once you’ce created your long form content you can repurpose it into so many areas of your content and marketing strategy. You can turn it into a blog, show notes, Instagram stories topics and more. You can ask yourself how you can repurpose this into a reel or into a video. Repurpose your long form content into social media posts.
Put in the hard work first then save your time and outsource everything else. Even if you are doing this alone, it’s still going to help you even if you had one person on your team. Bring one person on, let them handle all of the repurposing, and you are going to be able to reach more people and grow your audience on more platforms, all because you chose to do long form content.
Now the greatest part about choosing one of these types of long form content is that they are all tied to SEO. Be smart about titling things and using SEO strategy. That way, when people are searching on Google, Pinterest, or YouTube you’re going to be in those search results because you implemented the phrases your clients are typing in into your long form content.
You only have to create your long form content once. Then you’ll see people come back over and over again, far into the future. Three years from now, when we’re three years into the Five Star Business Podcast, people will still come back to the very beginning and listen to the older episodes. That is why long form content is so amazing, because no one is scrolling.
Nobody is scrolling back that far back on your social media accounts. Because they don’t have the time or desire to do that. Your audience is looking for something quick. They want to snap their fingers and find the answer. That is the power of long form content.
Decide which type of long form content you want to do, then you’re hop on over to Instagram or into our Facebook Group and come tell me which one you are choosing. I will be helping, coaching, and teaching to help people get started with their podcasts. I’m not going to create a fancy course or anything like that. I have a great reference if you want an entire course for it.
But I would love to have a one-on-one strategy call to look at your industry, your ideal client and your offers. We can talk about the long form content that would be best for you. We’ll even plan out your first 10 topics. If that’s what you need in your business, come let me know. Find me on Instagram at @coachbrookejefferson, I would love to talk to you about that.
By doing it now, you will see the fruit three months, six months, nine months, a year and even 10 years down the road. My very first podcast has over 300,000 downloads. There have been over 1,200 people that listened to one of the very first episodes I aired on the podcast. That was back in 2019. So, I know people went back and listened because when I started the podcast, I had an audience of zero. There were zero downloads, zero listeners, and zero reviews. People were able to find it through referrals, SEO, key words, other podcasts, and so many other ways.
When I launched it for the very first time, there were five downloads on that episode. Then as people came and the audience expanded, we now have over like 1,200 downloads all the way back in 2019. Long form content is where your energy, your time and your effort should be going at this stage of your business. You’re transitioning from a solopreneur into really scaling your business to the next level. I hope you found this helpful. I’m praying blessings on your business!
