How to choose your email service provider

I’m a list girl and choosing my email service provider took priority on one of those lists.

I have to-do lists and checklists for everything! I remember when I was first starting out with my business, it seemed like my lists were never-ending.

Motivated and overwhelmed were common adjectives of mine.

Does this sound familiar?

Well, lucky for you, I’ve been through this all before, so you get to skip the google searching and hours of reading and decide which email marketing service provider is right for you by the end of this blog post. Can I get an AMEN?!

Choosing your email service provider is not a glamorous topic, but it’s super important. This is how you’ll be in contact with your clients, how you’ll make sales, and how you’ll make sure those clients will come back raving and wanting more.

I’ve selected three different email service providers to give you the deets on. The one that may be most helpful for you depends on your experience/ the size of your business.

First up, for the beginners: Mailchimp!

You’ve probably heard of this one, it’s become the go-to in the online startup world. It’s perfect if you are just starting out with your business. The learning curve with Mailchimp is relatively easy compared to others. Even if you’re not the most tech-savvy, you’ll be able to figure out this one with a few tutorials and some practice.

Mailchimp also provides amazing video content. This is great for you visual learners.

Pricing: Mailchimp is free up to 2,000 subscribers, and up to 12,000 emails per month. For smaller businesses and entrepreneurs starting out, this is the perfect option for you.

As you grow in your business, and surpass the 2,000 subscribers/12,000 email mark, you will need one of their paid plans. These start at $10/ month.

For those with intermediate experience: ConvertKit.

If you are already familiar with the world of email marketing, this is the provider for you. There is a steep learning curve involved with ConvertKit, but again, if you already have that base knowledge it is definitely doable.

One of the perks of ConvertKit is that they have outstanding deliverable rates. In addition, you can send out unlimited emails.

Another perk of ConvertKit is you get live support forever. This means when you’re putting finishing touches to an email and suddenly run into a snag, you can hop on with someone from ConvertKit and they can help you troubleshoot.

Pricing: ConvertKit’s packages start at $29 a month, and include up to 1,000 subscribers. From there, the pricing increases depending on the number of subscribers.

Finally, for the Big Wigs: Active Campaign!

Active Campaign was created for the pros and established businesses. So, if you’re fairly well established, a tech guru, have a lot of subscribers, or all of the above, this is definitely the best choice for you!

The features with Active Campaign are endless. It allows you to customize your emails and branding and can perform virtually any email -related service you can think of.

This is your one stop shop for all of your email marketing needs from now and in the future.

Pricing: Their packages are set up using yearly pricing. These start at $9 a month for 500 subscribers, and increase from there.

So there you have it. There is an email service provider for every business and skill level.
