Claire started her photography business several years ago but didn’t see the growth or success in her photography career until she joined the Blueprint Program about a year ago, and that’s the journey she is taking us on today.
It all started in college with nature photography & friends that needed images for special occasions (engagements, maternity, etc.). Claire didn’t think she had the skillset for photography, truly, until a good family friend told her, “You really have such a natural talent, you need to market this & make a business”. And that’s when things began to shift from hobby to successful photographer.
Fast forward, Claire gets married & has a baby, and is sitting at home on maternity leave, BORED out of her mind. So, naturally, she dove into podcasts, and that’s where she found me & the Book More Clients Photography Podcast. She listened to an episode where I mentioned the Blueprint Program & thought, “I can do this! It’ll only take a couple of sessions & I can make my money back from this investment”.

Claire spent her maternity leave going ALL IN on the Blueprint Program!
Claire: I followed everything pretty much to a T, every checklist, every video, some of them I watched TWICE. I even found that some of the videos I didn’t think would pertain to me, I watched & ended up with takeaways. And here I am almost 1 year later, with a nearly FULLY BOOKED OUT calendar.
Brooke: I LOVE IT! What a blessing to have a community of supportive people around you, too. For a lot of photographers, that’s a missing piece in their business, the lack of support & community. So, let’s talk about that or a second. Claire, what does the community of the Blueprint Program students look like, or how has it helped you in your photography journey specifically?
Claire: We all know photographers can be very “clicky”, I tried before joining the Blueprint Program to be friends with local photographers in my area and it was instant shutdown. The Blueprint Program takes that photographer stereotype & debunks it! There are photographers from all over the world, and you can ask any question or request feedback & you’ll receive legitimate answers, guidance and positive feedback.
Brooke: Yes! I love that response. The community of the Blueprint Program is the cherry on top of everything, truly!
Working a Full-Time Career + Successful Photographer
Brooke: You mentioned you have a full-time job. What are some things you’re working on to go full-time in photography? Or, are you even preparing to go full-time in photography?
Claire: Honestly, I’m not sure — I actually enjoy my job. I love people and interacting with them through the day, I think for me, instead of leaving altogether & going full-time, work-from-home photographer, I’d rather scale back at my job & maintain the success in my photography business.
Brooke: I love the honesty there! Truly. I think it’s so important for photographers to realize they don’t have to quit their full-time career to have a successful photography business; definitely something to shine light on!
Favorite Things About the Blueprint Program
Brooke: What are two of your FAVORITE things about the Blueprint Program?
Claire: The first thing is really setting up my brand; feeling like I had a grown-up name for my business & focusing on what I want my business to look like. Number two, BOUNDARIES. The boundary of not replying to messages at all hours of the day and also realizing that I can say, “no”, it can be part of my business vocabulary.
Brooke: What would you tell someone sitting on the fence about joining the Blueprint Program?
Claire: That you’re never gonna regret it. Not only do you get so much coaching & resources, and so much guidance from Brooke, but you also get to tap into this awesome community, which will help you tenfold.
