Full-time photographer + NEW mom! Today on the Book More Clients Photography Podcast, I’m talking with another Blueprint Program alumna, Mallory Johnson; we’re discussing her journey of becoming a full-time photographer and a new mom.

Full-Time Photographer + New Mom

Mallory is a former Kindergarten teacher turned full-time photographer. She started out as a hobbyist; she’s always loved taking pictures, all the way back to middle & high school where she was part of the yearbook staff. Even after high school, she was still taking images of her niece & nephews, and she remembers the turning point being when she did her first Senior session for a family friend …

From that one Senior session in 2019, other people started reaching out for sessions & Mallory start reaching out to people around her asking if they were interested in a shoot…and before she realized it, she sat back one day & said, “I need to start seeing if I can take this seriously”…

Finding the Blueprint Program

Brooke: At what point when you decided to take it more seriously, did you find the Blueprint Program?

Mallory: Shortly after I realized I need to go from hobby to something legitimate, I started searching on Facebook and found you, Brooke & your Facebook Group, which then led me to the Blueprint Program, and in 2020, I became an official business — I knew I needed the guidance to not only make it an official business, but to make it a profitable business.

Mallory: At that point in time, I was teaching full-time, engaged and realizing I needed to either go all in & make this into something in order to contribute to our family because I knew we’d have kids soon & adding in that with the pandemic, the education system as a whole changed drastically. I wanted to step away from the classroom & step into being a full-time photographer.

Life & Business After the Blueprint Program

Brooke: Fast forward to present, Mallory & tell us how has life & business changed after investing in the Blueprint Program?

Mallory: Moving forward to being married and expecting our first baby. I knew once he was born, I wouldn’t want to return to the classroom. I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom and being a full-time photographer was the solution.

Mallory: So, I went ALL IN with the Blueprint Program, our baby boy was born, and I stepped out of the classroom & into being a full-time photographer + new mom!

Brooke: I LOVE THAT! All of it, I’m SO proud of you!!

Brooke: Final question: What would you tell someone that can relate to your story wholeheartedly, but is still sitting on the fence about joining the Blueprint Program?

Mallory: Just do it. Don’t hesitate. The Blueprint Program has helped me get my business mindset right so that I know at the start of each month, my business will be profitable for my family. That’s because of the knowledge that you, Brooke, pour into your students.
