Learn How To Grow Your Photography Business to Full Time Income This Year!
Creating this new podcast for moms in business, Business Mamas Tell All, is something that has been on my mind and heart for quite some time. I was always too afraid to take the leap. And maybe that’s the same way you’re feeling today.
I’m Brooke Jefferson. I’m a believer, mom of two kiddos, and have been building businesses since 2014. The very first business I started was a photography business which is still going strong today. It was something that fell into my lap and I had to figure it out as I went. I had to learn a lot of business skills through trial and error. A few years into my business I hired a business coach and really began to dive into the education space trying to soak up as much as I could.
The next business I transitioned into on top of my photography business was in 2016. I joined a network marketing company selling makeup. This is where I learned so much about myself. If I have anything to thank network marketing for it’s the community and personal growth that I was able to experience as a part of that. It taught me so much about leadership, learning, sales and marketing, technology, social media and so many things that I’ll forever be grateful for.
There’s so many people I met through that amazing journey; Some of them you’ll hear on this podcast. But on top of both of those businesses I was also a kindergarten teacher with a toddler and a newborn at home. So I have definitely been where you’re at. I’ve been through so many stages of motherhood and business. I have been at rock bottom and I have been at the mountain top and everywhere in between.
I really wanted to create this podcast as a space not only to build community but also to equip you with inspiring interviews and stories of other women’s highs and lows of business.
There are lessons learned, mistakes made, business skills, and expertise that will be shared with you. I’ll also be showing up through my own highs and lows giving you business advice. I’ll be here to encourage you and keep you pressing on.
Building a business is a lot like motherhood. It’s one of those things where you always have room to grow and learn. You never really feel ready. But it’s a beautiful, rewarding journey.
If you’re reading this I know you’re a high achieving mom and you’re building a business. Maybe you’re starting it, growing it, or scaling it. But something I can promise you is that this podcast is going to be one of the tools you want in your toolkit to help you grow.
I stuck out network marketing until 2018 which is the same year I left my teaching career to pursue my photography business full time. I felt that God was calling me to take a leap of faith that I didn’t feel ready for. But I trusted he would align me with what I needed and who I needed to fulfill that calling. And sure enough he did. So I left teaching in the classroom in 2018 and became a full time entrepreneur.
My photography business now needed to sustain the money I was making before as a teacher. After I left the classroom, I was so scared that I would never see a $1,900 paycheck again. I laugh about that now.
In 2019 I wanted to give back to other photographers trying to grow their businesses. So I started my very first podcast which was called The Book More Clients Photography Podcast which is still going on if you’d like to go check it out. Once I started doing that I began to step more into the coaching phase. This is where for the first time in a long time I felt like oh this makes sense. I just couldn’t understand why I busted my butt through college working two businesses with two kids and hustling. I couldn’t understand how my teaching degree would tie in with my entrepreneurial journey. And now it all makes sense.
Once I began really stepping into the coaching space I was on fire. There’s nothing I love more than working with another business owner, especially a mother. And helping her get consistent clients and sales. Because with that I’m able to see them create freedom in their life. Freedom of choice, freedom of time, and freedom with finances. It’s so encouraging to watch how God weaved it all together for me.
For about two years I’ve felt this sweet invitation to step out of the photographer pond and into a bigger area. I felt like God was calling me to expand what I was already doing and who I was serving and go to all moms in business. So that is how this new podcast began and brings me to the new and improved business at this stage of my career.
I want you to know and understand that I’m not any different than you. I am that mom and that wife who wants to build her business to fuel her family and allow us to have more freedom. This is my vehicle to share my faith and to help others build businesses that create freedom in their lives. And that’s what I’m on fire to do.
